The 4th of July

So, every year on the 4th, our ward has a breakfast at the park. They also have a parade after breakfast and all the kids decorate their bikes and ride around in the parade. We'll we had forgotten about the parade and the night before we were at the store and I realized that Rylee didn't have a bike. I knew that it would be the end of the world if we showed up at the breakfast with no bike. But being responsible parents, we didn't want to just get Rylee a bike, we wanted her to earn it. So my brilliant husband thought up a plan, a mighty good plan if you ask me. Alex bought the bike with his money, and Rylee was going to pay him back when she got home. When we got home, we got the piggy bank out and counted $35.00 in change, Alex then put it in a jar with a label asset. He then took a jar labeled, return that was empty. We got the paperwork out and Rylee at 4 years old signed for her first loan. Every day Alex and Rylee go to the jars and take out a dollar. Rylee gives Alex a dollar, and Alex gives Rylee 25 cents back for her return jar. Thank you Alex, this is why I married you!
The princess and her new bike.
All the kids decorated their bikes for the parade, Rylee made a sash and wrote her name on it.
Here she comes!
Rylee was all about catching rides with Jaxson.
Alex went all out on fireworks this year. He went for the big ones.....the snakes. Yeah, you know the ones that kind of look like a pile of p**.
I'm suprised Rylee lasted long enough for me to take a picture, she was horrified by the sparklers. She has to be the most cautious person I know...other than my husband and um, me! I wounder were she gets it from? He's getting serious now, watch out!

A sailing we will go

My friend Stacey lives down in Seattle and invited us to go sailing with her. Alex LOVES sailing and so we just couldn't pass it up. It was the most gorgeous day. Every Tuesday they have a Sailboat race on lake Union, There were at least 60 sailboats out on the lake and we were right in the middle of the action. It was one of the most incredible sights ever.
The start of the Journey.
It was so nice sitting up on deck.
Rylee was the captain of the day.
Rylee enjoyed commanding orders to the crew.
Shout out to Dr. Peter for being brave enough to let Rylee steer the wheel!
In Rylee's down time from steering the boat, her and Stacey were watching Japanese cartoons down in the cabin. Oh and yes, the words were in Japanese. Thanks Stac for exposing Rylee to other cultures!Like mother like daughter.
Have I mentioned I love my husband?

Chocolate pudding

One of Rylee's favorite things to do down at grandma and grandpa's is to make chocolate pudding. It's a little tradition that they started that takes place everytime she goes down there. I love watching her start these little but sweet traditions. It reminds me of the ones that I had growing up and how even though they're such small things, I know she'll never forget them. She will always remember making chocolate pudding with grandma and grandpa.

Rylee is a fan of running around naked, so we had her cover up with her apron.
She makes sure that she's involved in every step of the process.

Gasworks park

It's been a beautiful week and since we live in Seattle and don't believe in AC, we decided to explore gasworks park. We always drove through Seattle and we would say, "we should go check out gasworks park".... three years later we finally made our way down there and it was awesome It's amazing how many beautiful places are in this area that we have yet to explore. Sometimes we take for granted the little things in life, like where we live. sitting up on that hill made me so grateful that we live in such an amazing place.

We LOVE Seattle...

I LOVE my hunny!

Sometimes you just have to cry it out.
